China Laba Festival

Laba Festival, the eighth day of the twelfth lunar month, is also known as "talisman Festival", "Buddha into Daoism Festival", "Daoism meeting" and so on. Originally a Buddhist festival to commemorate Sakyamuni Buddha's enlightenment, it gradually became a folk festival.

Laba porridge, also known as "seven treasures and five flavors porridge", "Buddha porridge" and "Everyone's meal", is a porridge made from a variety of ingredients. Laba porridge was first recorded in the Song Dynasty. The Southern Song Dynasty Wu self Mu "Dream Lianglu" contained: "This month 8, the temple that Laba. Temple such as big temple, set up five flavor porridge, known as Laba porridge." Our history of eating Laba porridge has been more than one thousand years. Every Laba day, whether it is the court, the temple or the people to do Laba porridge. In the Qing Dynasty, the custom of drinking Laba porridge was more prevalent.
